3 Volumes. 4to. pp. xii, 1286. Title page and two woodcuts designed by Edward Burne-Jones. Original Holland backed blue paper covered boards, corners minutely worn and spines very slight rucked, paper title labels intact. Volume 2 mostly unopened, volume 3 with half the pages unopened, with the bookplates of H.C. Plimmer. Lacks the ‘instructions to binders’ slip bit nevertheless an almost pristine copy in original condition of a title which is usually found in worn state or rebound as intended. One of 500 copies printed on paper [no vellum edition was published], this was intended to be the first book published by the press but for various reasons was delayed and was printed using the specially designed ‘Golden’ type.
