12mo. 124 volumes. Bound in full mottled calf, contrasting coloured calf spine titling pieces, contained in two contemporary wooden book form cases with hinged lids as a travelling library of the poets. Some of the volumes are a little worn on the spines, but all sound. The boxes in the form of a 4 volume set and covered in leather are worn and scratched and the title labels for ‘Volume 2’ are missing. Originally published in 109 volumes in 1779 - 82, this expanded edition is rarely found. The binding design features a lyre or harp and although unsigned may be by an Irish bookbinder as the set came from an Irish country house library.
