4to sheet, folded. Printed on one side only, with manuscript entries. Rare. Whilst printed Enclosure Acts and Awards are not uncommon, and even manuscript awards crop up regularly, I have never encountered an allotment certificate previously though I should have suspected their existence. It is possible that in most cases the allotments were manuscript indentures, or copies of the awards given to the individual landowners but in this case it is clear that the whole enclosure was dealt with by the use of certificates. This one is for Allotment No. 92, awarding William Killingbeck 1 acre on Bradley Hill, noting the boundaries and responsibility for fencing. Killingbeck’s share of the expenses in taking the Act through Parliament was Six pounds six shillings.
