Large sheet of 24 hand-coloured conundrum cards, 315 x 508 mm, folded twice and enclosed in the original hand-coloured fold over envelope illustrating the 27 feet high crystal cut glass fountain exhibited at the Great Exhibition in 1851. Also included is the separate printed list of answers to the conundrums. A couple of short tears to the folds of the envelope, which is very lightly foxed otherwise Fine. The characters include Lawrence Lunatick, Alfred Allsmoke, Emilia Embrace, etc. These very rare parlour character/conundrum games were intended to be cut up and handed out to the guests to act out, or otherwise display their chosen character. Consequently, it is unlikely that many have survived in their original form, particularly with the original envelopes. Although institutions have the odd example I cannot trace these actual versions. I have five different ones available.
